Pizza delivery guy kills suspect in attempted robbery

According to reports, a pizza delivery boy fought off two suspects who attempted to rob him on Saturday evening. In the ambush one of the suspects was shot dead while the other was arrested.

Police said that the delivery boy was dropping off a pizza at a home in the 1400 block of Springwood Drive. But after reaching the location he discovered that the house has been vacant from long time.

The delivery boy said that the two suspects tried to rob him and one of the suspects had a handgun and fired at him.

The delivery boy was armed himself and fired back at the suspects, who then fled the scene. Police responded to the shooting just before 11:30 p.m.

Police later found one of the suspects who sustained a gunshot; he later succumbed to his injury.

Police arrested the second suspect and charged him with an aggravated robbery.

The identities of both the suspects have not been released, but police said that they were both 16-years-old.

Sgt. Marcia Trejo, who is retired now lives in the same neighborhood and said that the case maker her worry about her safety in the area.

“That sounds like an ambush… with that pizza driver knowing that he probably didn’t have that much money to begin with on him,” said Trejo. “And they lured him here to that house; it just seems like not a good situation.”
